The point of a date is to get a better understanding of who the prospective match is. The date can go on as long as this objective is being achieved. When the conversation peters out and you have to resort to purposeless conversation to keep things going, the date should come to an end. Of course, we are not talking about a “quiet moment”; we are talking about when there is nothing left to say.
Usually, the first date will peter out faster. One and a half to two hours is enough. From the second date and on, three, maybe even four hours can be spent in comfortable conversation.
Keep in mind that the girl will need to discuss her date with her parents before going to sleep and therefore can’t be dropped off too late.
